Daniel ShortDan was born in Bolton in 1972. He was drawing from a very early age and was rarely seen without a sketchbook in his hand. He studied Architectural Interior Design in Leeds and Newcastle.
After graduating, he travelled to Europe on a climbing trip making it as far as the Translyvanian Alps, documenting his travels in his sketch book. The mountain bug had bitten, and on his return to the UK began work in the outdoor industry which continues to play a big part in his work today. Working as a trekking guide in the Himalayas and Africa, he draws inspiration from his time in the mountains for his artwork. He particularly enjoys working with a specific brief and on the larger scale a mural provides.
